Sami Yusuf’s Live Feed Campaign
In Inspiration, LitterateurSami Yusuf, renowned recording artist and UN Celebrity Partner for WFP, has composed his latest song ‘Forgotten Promises’ in support of the drought-hit populations of the Horn of Africa. All proceeds will be donated to WFP to help sustain and scale-up their humanitarian operations in the region. The partnership between Sami Yusuf and WFP gave birth to ‘LiveFeed’, a unique campaign essentially using the power of music to feed.
This campaign features “Forgotten Promises”, a song about humanity singing with one voice in solidarity with the drought victims, renewing its pledge to deliver on the forgotten promises.
The Horn of Africa is currently suffering the worst drought it has experienced in more than 60 years, causing a severe food crisis across Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya. More than 13 million people are affected by this disaster and a lack of water and malnutrition has led to a large number of deaths that are increasing by the day. First declared in two regions of Southern Somalia in July 2011, the famine has since spread to new areas of the country.
