Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has broken every known record
In BlogCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has broken entertainment records across the board, making over $775 million worldwide within five days. The previous record was set by Black Ops at $650 million.
Records have been broken on Xbox Live as well, with over seven million hours logged into the game during launch day alone. 3.3 million users logged on at once on November 8 to break Xbox Live’s record for most concurrent players.
Activision calls COD “One of the most valuable entertainment properties in the world” and the numbers are impossible to dispute.
Of course, not that much profit was made when you remember that Activision gave ten million dollars to every reviewer who awarded Modern Warfare 3 a high score. Because Activision totally did that, according to the Internet!
The Call of Duty franchise has now generated a whopping $6 billion in revenue over its lifespan, making it one of the top entertainment properties in the world.
Modern Warfare 3’s strong showing comes just days after Activision announced that the game set a new launch-day record, posting $400 million in revenue in its first 24 hours on store shelves.
