iPhone 4: Reasons to Hate it or Love it
In DevicesA month ago or so, I luckily got my hands on an iPhone 4. Although it didn’t amaze me at it’s first glance, it also failed to impress me in the long run. I am a person who likes different home screens each day, or I will get bored. The iPhone’s springboard bored me in a day. I couldn’t play my music collection on loudspeaker as it sounded somewhat like a mono speaker. Even the camera quality was poor, not at all impressive, full of blobs. Only the battery fared a litttle good, but no one will use it just for iPod right?
Coming to the form factor, the build quality was not so good as advertised, neither just good too. The glass back panel, got scratched easily, and normal handling of the phone brings fingerprint nightmare to the screen.
Few things did impress me, its digital compass, bright crisp display, ability to record videos in HD, although camera quality was poor, it did fair better sometimes for normal shots. Performance too was quite fast, all apps loaded on to RAM, leaving just about 50-60MB free RAM of over 512MB, app response was quick and very snappy. Battery life was also comparatively good, good for listening music while traveling and a longer time on the internet.
In conclusion, this phone is really not that good as it should’ve been, with the specification of its hardware, it could have shown better horse power. This iPhone, I feel, under performs in various aspects.
I am expecting some updates, patches, apps from the Jailbreak community to fix things which are firmware related and otherwise.
Let’s hope.
